Where a Western person will often think that art is a form of entertainment and is meant to entertain, the Chinese may see art as a form of communication. They also look at art as something that encourages reflection.In studying art history, an English composition student needs to understand that there are many subject areas. For example, they may be studying an aspect of art history where the focus is on the evolution of art through history, or they may be studying art history that focuses on a particular country or style. There are many differences between the many subject areas, but there are also similarities.
